From Jana Throckmorton, one of the Neighborhood Cleanup co-chairs:
Please note these changes for the 2015 Clean up being held at 2700 SE 67th on May 23rd from 9am-1pm. See the cleanup article in the newsletter for all other details.
Styrofoam – We will not be recycling styrofoam at this event because Far West’s machine to break it down has broken and will not be fixed by the 23rd. Please hold onto it for future recycling at Far West Fibers, or we will have to dump into the mixed waste, sadly.
E-Waste hauler – Junk Jugglers – will not be able to take tube-type televisions or tube-type monitors – he can only recycle five at a time for free. Plan to take it over to Goodwill at SE 91st and Powell. Sorry for this.
Bikes – Bikes for Humanity will be collecting bikes to refurbish for 4th and 5th graders in the Lents area. Instead of metal scrapping, we’re going to donate sizes-appropriate bicycles for those children in need of bikes!
Union Gospel Mission is our charity for donations this year. They will come toward the end of the event and collect all the re-usable items from the U-price-it area. Please bring these items in bags and boxes as they do not carry boxes or bags on their truck.
If you have any questions, please leave a message at 503-772-1423 or send an email to cleanup@southtabor.org. If you have questions on the day of the event: 503-522-2492 (I’ll do my best to answer)
