Meet Your Neighbor!

Meet Your Neighbor! This is Nancy Judd, who has lived in the neighborhood for little over a year now. She creates couture sculptures from trash in order to raise awareness and create conversation about the environment and our impact on it. She relishes the challenge and finds it therapeutic to make something from what would otherwise be thrown away, reducing her environmental footprint. Nancy made her first recycled fashion piece in 1998. She also gives speeches that educate audiences about the environment and hosts workshops. You can see her recycled fashion sculptures, videos of her TEDx talks, and current exhibitions at www.recyclerunway.com.
Nancy is currently working on two sculptures that will be displayed in the Portland area later this year. The approximate dates and locations are: Pacifica, commissioned by the Nature Conservancy for the 50th anniversary of Cascade Head Preserve, will be on display at the Bridgeport Mall May-June, mostly in a window facing the food kiosks in front of the movie theater. The second sculpture, which was commissioned by the Port of Portland to represent their sustainability programs, will be on display at the Portland International Airport on the baggage claim level from April 22-29th. Then they will use it for various events throughout the year.
