The Furin Project Symposium is culmination of a year-long community and place-making art project by APANO’s catalyst artist Midori Hirose. In collaboration with APANO and Mural Arts Institute in Philadelphia (MAI), the project honors the history and legacy of the Portland area’s Japanese-American farming community.
Ceramic bells made by Midori and the community are now installed at PCC Southeast in the Art Gallery of the Student Commons Building. Community members are invited to view them on Friday, May 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. The event starts at the PCC Southeast Campus Learning Garden (2305 SE 82nd Ave.) and ends at APANO (8188 SE Division Street).
