In November Blythe Pavlik, a SE Uplift staff member, lead the first of a two part visioning session for the purpose of brainstorming about how to create a more vital neighborhood association. A second session will be held on January 19th at 7 to 9 pm in a meeting room at Trinity Fellowship, 2700 SE 67th. Everyone living in South Tabor is invited to attend and share ideas. Snacks and childcare will be provided.
At the first session, neighbors were asked to respond to the question: What is your vision of a vibrant neighborhood? More than 20 ideas were listed including – a vibrant neighborhood association fosters relationships, builds pride, shares information, reaches out to include everyone, is interested in sustainability, and enthusiastic about neighborhood history.
More ideas came from the second question: What do you believe is the value of a neighborhood association? Attendees would like to see the association act as a resource, provide a support system, link with other neighborhoods, promote communication, and organize advocacy efforts.
