– Zoning Workshop. Curious how you, your neighbors, your landlord, or nearby businesses are allowed to develop your/their property? Given recent changes to residential zoning in Portland (and statewide), we’ll look at what type of development is now allowed in South Tabor. Come with any address in mind. We’ll use PortlandMaps.com as a starting point, then dive deeper into the zoning code for details.
*** DISCLAIMER: We are neither land use attorneys nor representatives of the City of Portland. This workshop is a chance to meet with your fellow neighbors to try to understand the new zoning allowances. We will not be giving legal advice.
Updates:
– No current land use proposals to discuss.
– Request to complete Safe Routes projects on SE Clinton. John sent requests to PBOT in July and will report back with any response.
– SE 59th Ave. and Woodward Visioning. We conducted a survey and spoke with immediate neighbors in June. There’s no budget or plan to do anything at this point and no commitment that PBOT would even be interested in funding or doing a project in this area. We plan to invite a PBOT rep to an upcoming meeting to discuss greenways and may explore possibilities with them then.
– Powell-Division Safety Improvements Project. TriMet has been updating us on the milestones for the crossings project. Here is the update for August: “Recently, we have had to redo the design of some of the intersections due to comments from various bureaus. This has led us to modify our contract with the design group (AECOM). Now we are getting geared up to completing permitting and finalize the design. We have also given the go ahead to begin survey work at various sites.”
– Mt. Tabor Maintenance Yard project updates. The webpage was last updated January 20, 2023. But from the looks of things at the worksite, the groundwork for the multi-use path has reached Division. At our last meeting we learned that PP&R employees do not currently have on-site parking for their personal vehicles. In the meantime, some of them are parking on the street in South Tabor. Please help keep an eye on their vehicles and report any theft or vandalism to the police.
– August updates from the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. A couple highlights this month: LGBTQ+ Historic Sites Project. A Proposed Draft of the Housing Needs Analysis (HNA) and Housing Production Strategy (HPS) will be available for public review on 8/22/23.
