STNA Special Board Meeting, Tuesday, 5/9/17.
Written by Sandra Hay Magdaleno, STNA Secretary, 5/9/17, Revised 5/16/17, Approved 5/18/17
Board Present: Duane Hanson, George Kepnick, John Carr, Sandra Hay Magdaleno
Members Present: Darlene Zimbar, Ron Chambers, Margie Chambers, Mary Karter
The Special meeting was called to order at 7:05 to discuss the proposed email/letter to the developer of the Seven Dees site on 62nd and SE Division. The proposed letter was drafted after the STNA Land Use Committee met last week to discuss in detail the proposed site plans and the City of Portland’s response. Additional information was gathered from the Land Use meeting and everyone at the16/17 Board Meeting tonight was informed of the current issues. There was additional discussion to the possible traffic patterns, with one way instead of two-way traffic on the site and possible egress/ingress via Powell rather than SE 62nd. It was noted by local neighbors that there has been 40 years of neighborhood work to add speed bumps and remove traffic lights to reduce traffic on the very narrow SE 62nd Ave.
MOTION: TO APPROVE THE EMAIL LETTER PROPOSED BY THE STNA LAND USE COMMITTEE AS WRITTEN was made by Sandra and seconded by George to approve the email letter as written. The 3 key points were: the driveway/traffic patterns; supporting the city planner’s recommendation for additional active uses on the ground floor; written assurance that there would be limited hours of operation of not more than 12-14 hours/day. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY, with no abstentions.
The email letter will go out to the developer via Jake Walker. CC’ed to Marty Stockton, Cassie Ballew, Miraeya Medina, and Alissa Keny-Guyer. Also, Shawn Morgan with the Foster Powell Neighborhood Association is being contacted to add Foster Powell as a signer to the letter.
It was noted that the Emergency Preparedness Workshop will be this Saturday, 5/13/17 from noon to 4pm. There may be a change in venue or a possible cancellation of the workshop due to the loss of the primary presenter who will be doing a NRT training for 300 people elsewhere. (Thankfully – some great speakers were rounded up and the event did occur. There was much useful information.) Thank you Duane!!!
Also, we were reminded of the Division Street and SE 72nd Street litter pick up that will be held on Saturday, 6/10/17.
MOTION: TO ADJOURN THE MEETING was made by Sandra and seconded by George at 7:48pm. Unanimous. No Abstentions.
