Duane Hanson called meeting to order at 7 pm

Board members present: Duane Hanson, President; Ute Munger, Treasurer; Pete Forsyth, Communication Chair

Board members absent: Tina Kimmey, SEUL Delegate and Interim Secretary; Marcelle Thurston, Land Use Chair; John Carr, SEUL LUC Representative.

We welcomed Ben and Juan, neighbors new to attending the meeting.

Pete gave detailed information of the planned Pancake breakfast  on April 27, 2019 from 9am to 12 noon at Trinity Fellowship. This is an attempt of a semi annual fundraiser and ‘getting to know your neighbor’ event. About 50 people are hoped to attend at $6. for adults and $3. for children under 10 yrs. of age. The church has generously agreed to let STNA use their kitchen and dining room.

Duane motioned to accept proposed details for fundraiser to be accepted

  • I move that we appoint Ute Munger to chair the Breakfast Committee, and Pete Forsyth and Janine Shockley as members of the Breakfast Committee.
  • I move that we approve the plan as presented, and attach it to our minutes, and empower the Breakfast Committee to make changes to the plan that do not exceed the expenditure amounts approved, at their discretion.
  • I move that the Breakfast Committee may spend an amount not to exceed $200 on food and incidentals for a community fundraiser breakfast to take place in spring 2017.
  • I move that the Breakfast Committee may spend an (additional) amount not to exceed $150 on advertising for the spring 2017 breakfast. We expect these funds to be reimbursed by the City.

Jennie spoke about her family business, a CSA farm, which grows seeds, vegetables and flowers in Corbett.  She may possibly furnish table decorations for the Pancake breakfast.

February Minutes passed with corrections and one abstention.

Treasurer’s report: Current balance $4,255.54

Correction was made on February’s Minutes that the 2018 CT-12 report for the Charitable Activities Section with the Oregon Dept of Justice was $20.

Motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report and it passed unanimously.

Pete needed to leave the meeting early, which left the Board with an incomplete quorum.

Duane briefly read the explanation of HS 2846, both it and the Mt. Tabor Yards’ Good Neighbor Agreement’ could not be voted on.

No representative from the LUC was present, therefore no news of progress of Kellogg Middle school.

Juan was curious to know if STNA had any influence on districting.

Details on various street problems were discussed. Doug showed a signature collecting document for Vision Zero Safety Pledge to present to City of Portland. Also, to place yard signs  regarding this topic. There may be a stack of these documents for more signature collecting, but at this point nobody knows who may have it..

Currently curb cuts are marked or are already being renewed on SE Woodward from 65th to

70th. Therefore, rumor has it that all or most of Woodward will eventually be repaved. This will delay the street mural on the intersection of Woodward and 67th until next year.

Duane mentioned that there is at least one kiosk signpost available for placement. Jennie might be interested , as was Wren Shiffler at a previous meeting.

Neighbor Ben Chatterton is interested to take on the STNA V.P. position and his friend and neighbor Juan Cummings is willing to be the next Secretary. Both have worked in various positions with non-profit organizations and functioned as misc. committees chairs.

Appointments can take place at the STNA meeting in April.

Meeting adjourned at 8:02pm; Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 7pm

Approved as amended, on July 18, 2019 (we had to track down a record of motions #5 & 6).
Updated August 12, 2019 to add the first 4 Pancake Breakfast motions, and to link to the Pancake Breakfast plan.

—Pete Forsyth, President STNA
